A ‘gail’ force when it comes to sales, Afolabi Akinsanya is a seasoned pro when it comes to Rapidrop Global Ltd.

Kick starting his career as a weekend sales assistant at MFI kitchens and Bathrooms, Afolabi not only got a taste for sales but also had an opportunity to meet the infamous Gail Platt. After completing a course in business studies and finance at college an opportunity at IFI arose in the purchasing department.

A fresh faced 18 year old Afolabi began working hard, ‘I would often stay late to learn about products and would try to get involved with all aspects of the business.’ Commented Afolabi. By 19, Afolabi began his journey into external sales. Armed with a brief case and a flip phone, he took on the West Midlands of the UK including Nottingham, Leicester and Derby before moving onto the North and North West.

Unfortunately, after 8 years with IFI Afolabi decided to seek a new opportunity within the window and door industry. Yet it wouldn’t be long before the sales prodigy would return, in the time he had spent away from the business, the fire side of the company had fully developed and Rapidrop was gaining momentum.

In 2013 Afolabi officially returned, this time as part of the Rapidrop team. ‘I was completely out of my comfort zone.’ Afolabi explains. ‘The fire side of the business was like learning a whole new language and way of working. It took me a long time to really understand it all.’

Now in the role of UK Sales Manager for Rapidrop and with prestigious projects such as Battersea Power station under his belt, Afolabi has worked with many well-known locations including Liverpool football stadium, 8 Bishopsgate, Scottish Power headquarters, Centre Parcs, and the Versace building to name a few.

‘When I go into big cities with my children and I see the changing skylines, there are several buildings that I can point out and say Rapidrop products are in that building and there is more to come. I feel like Rapidrop are leaving a legacy.’ He shared.

Well known in the industry for his travels across the UK, you will often find Afolabi delivering CPDs to architects or product training to customers and sharing the knowledge he has gained over his years with the company. #followfol will soon be featured on our social pages where you will be able to follow Afolabi's travels across the UK and see some of the prestigious projects currently in the works for Rapidrop.
